These winter months are the perfect time to teach the littles about all those animals that can be found walking around in the bitter cold.
Isn’t it amazing that some animals can withstand these freezing cold temperatures?! Crazy!
Where we live we are lucky to see a lot of deer roaming our yard. And call us crazy, but we LOVE it! Especially when it snows! The deer make the perfect picture laying in the snow watching us. And that’s what we wanted to make today.. our own little winter wonderland collages!
Here's all you'll need to make your own!
- Blue card stock plus different color card stock for the animals and trees
- White paint
- Foam paint brush
- Salt
- School glue
DIRECTIONS:
STEP 1: I handed each kid blue card stock paper, a foam brush and some white paint and they painted their whole paper white.
While they were painting, I started cutting out the trees and all the animal silhouettes that I wanted to use.
STEP 2: I then laid out the silhouettes (pine trees, deer, rabbits and squirrels) and the glue and let them go for it placing them all over to make their own winter collage!
Such concentration!
STEP 3: We knew it wouldn't be complete without a little salt on top to really make the snow pop! So next they each spooned some salt onto their painted papers.
And this is why we have no more salt in our pantry!
STEP 4: Before setting their finished artwork aside, we dumped some salt off. Then once they were completely dry I dumped some more salt off. It left just the right amount of salt on the paper by doing it this way.
And that's it!
The kiddos had so much fun making these and we had a lot of fun talking about all these awesome winter animals together!
