FROZEN HANDS- Science Activity for the littles!

It has been SO dang hot lately and all the littles want to do is play outside all day long in that heat!😆 So of course we've been looking for some activities that they can do outside while staying happy and cool! I found this AWESOME summer time activity on happyhooligans.ca and it is PERFECT for this time of year!

Here's what we used to make these:

- Latex Gloves
- Food Coloring
- Twist-ties and Pipe Cleaners
- Salt
- Water

Directions:

1. Begin by filling a glove with water. Leave a couple of inches at the top to make it easier to twist closed.

2. Now, add a drop or two of food coloring, and shake the glove to get the color mixed in evenly.

3. Twist glove tightly a couple of times and secure with a twist-tie or pipe cleaner work great too!

4. Once gloves are all filled and closed tightly, place them in freezer overnight.

6. Once the hands are all frozen solid you can begin removing the glove. The trick to removing the glove from the hand is to have a slow drip of water on the glove while you carefully take the glove off. You may loose a finger or two but my boys thought that made them look cooler! Haha!

I placed the frozen hands in the sandbox just like she did on haapyhooligans.ca and the boys thought that was crazy creepy! So of course they LOVED it!

I had them each grab a bucket and place as many hands as they could in them and then bring them over to the table where I had the salt, spoons and dishes set out for the melting process.

As you can see melting the frozen hands was very serious business for the boys, ha!

We tried rock salt and table salt and the boys made quesses on which one would melt the ice faster!

The boys had a blast with this one and they stayed nice and cool which is fabulous in 100 degree weather!
