DIY Whirlygigs!

Looking for a craft that's a whole "whirl' of fun?! Ok, that was kinda cheesy... I couldn't help it! But for reals, these are SO much fun and so easy to make!

Whirlygigs have been around for generations. And incase you didn't know what whirlygigs are, they are simply objects that spin or whirl! I remember making them as a kid and loving it! My littles loved making them too and were mesmerized by them! Everything you need to make one  you should already have in your house, which is always a big bonus, right?!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

- Paper
- Crayons/Markers or anything to color with
- Glue Stick
- Scissors
- Cardboard
- Yarn
- Kitchen Skewer

STEP 1: Cut out 2 circles in paper for each whirlygig. We made our circles about the size of the lid of a large drinking glass.

STEP 2: Have your little ones decorate their 2 circles with any design or pattern they want.

STEP 3: Glue each circle on a side of cardboard and then cut cardboard out.

STEP 4: Now poke two holes in the center of the circle (about an inch apart) with the kitchen skewer.

STEP 5: Slide a piece of yarn through and knot off at the end. The length of the yarn doesn't really matter, we just eyeballed it.

Now your kids will have a new something to play with while also touching up on those fine motor skills of theirs!
