Here's another FUN craft to do with your kiddos! DIY: Minion Rocks!
My boys love digging outside and when I told them that today we were going to dig for rocks to paint they were beyond excited! Now I originally planned to paint something else on the rocks, but my 3 year old son decided he wanted us all to paint minions. And who doesn't love The Minions?! My boys ask to watch that movie a few times a week so we know and love the minions over here!
This craft not only is a fun one, its a great one to do when the weather is nice to spend time outside with the kids. Hopefully we'll have a few more of these days before the weather actually feels like winter, right?!
Materials:
•Rocks
•Paint
•Paintbrush
•Scissors
•Hot glue gun
•Denim fabric
•Googly eyes
•Construction paper
•Metal paper fasteners
STEP ONE: Go dig up some rocks!
STEP TWO: Start painting! We used acrylic paint which dried pretty darn fast but acrylic paint can get messy with little toddlers painting their own rocks. But hey, that's just part of the fun!
Finished painting and letting our rocks dry
STEP THREE: Get that glue gun warmed up and scissors ready and start cutting out your minions overalls. We didn't measure anything, I just eyeballed it, but there may be a template online you could use if you want the overalls to "fit" better than mine :) What I did was I cut out one big piece of fabric and then two little straps to make the overalls. I helped with the cutting and gluing while my boys directed me where to cut and glue... I Just love little bossy toddlers!
Pressing those cute tiny overalls onto our naked minions :)
STEP FOUR: Next glue on the googly eyes. This was a favorite part for my boys. They just love those googly eyes!
STEP FIVE: Now for the metal paper fasteners. We used these for the buttons on the overalls. We just bent back the pointed ends and folded them under to get them as flat as we could. I then glued them on.
This step could be skipped if you don't have the fasteners (I was surprised we actually had some in our craft box) but the buttons do look really cute I think!
STEP SIX: Last step is to cut out and glue on a tiny mouth, and I mean teeny tiny because there ain't a lot of room left on that rock now!
That's it! You're done! These minion rocks are so dang cute and my kids loved placing them all around the house and I'm sure yours will too!
